New Jersey courts finally reopen for criminal background checks

If you conduct criminal background checks in New Jersey,  you know that it has been nearly impossible to complete any court research in the state since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

I’m sure you’re familiar with the term, “all good things to those who wait”. Well, if that’s the case, there should be incredible things in store for all Consumer Reporting Agencies (CRAs) and employers as the state is finally ready to open their courts again for research after five long months.

Following significant lobbying from PBSA and companies like InformData, the courts agreed to make the PROMIS/Gavel System available remotely.

We are pleased to share that InformData is among the first court researchers in the country authorized to conduct remote court research and our clients will be in the fast lane to pick up right where they left off in March.

Effective today, July 30, 2020 we have begun processing orders from the state. It will take some time to work through the backlog of orders but we are taking a critical path urgency towards completing this project as soon as possible.

So, if you have accrued a backlog of background checks from the state of New Jersey or need a resource to help you move forward, InformData has got your back.

Quality is our first priority

We have completed exhaustive testing and are confident that this system effectively replicates the same data that would be available if we conducted our research on site. This includes information on all felonies (Indictable Offenses), misdemeanors (Disorderly Persons) and pending cases. It will also allow access to civil cases.

Check out below some of the quality data points we tested against:

  • Disorderly Person charges
  • Indictable charges
  • Pending cases
  • Dismissed cases
  • Probation extensions
  • No bill cases
  • Downgraded charges
  • Transferred to Family Court cases
  • Pre-Trial Intervention cases with dismissal
  • Returned to Municipal Court with corresponding Municipal Court cases
  • Remanded to Municipal Court with corresponding Municipal Court cases
  • Probation revocations
  • Merged cases
  • Amended charges
